BOTASERA · WATER, MATERIAL & SEASON
BOTASERA directed the entire system—from landscape design and construction to plant sourcing, the rain garden, irrigation, drainage, lighting and long-term care. Ivory fluted GFRC, bottle-green pre-patinated zinc, smoked oak and bronze frames are echoed by Milas Lilac marble and broken-pink Ankara andesite. The gneiss bioretention bed holds rainfall briefly and returns it to the soil; it is not a permanent water feature. A single monumental Cercidiphyllum japonicum opens pink-bronze in spring and turns yellow, apricot and caramel in autumn. The cinnamon bark of Acer griseum, white-flowering Magnolia kobus and Cercis siliquastrum ‘Alba’, sculptural Picea omorika ‘Pendula Bruns’, Quercus robur ‘Fastigiata Koster’ and Tilia cordata ‘Winter Orange’ form the garden’s changing year-round structure. Hamamelis, Fothergilla, Enkianthus, oakleaf hydrangea, Clethra, Hakonechloa, Molinia, asters and shade groundcovers make the seasons visible through flower, foliage, bark and winter seedhead.
